So the tank just got filled up after roughly six weeks - it took 71.3 gallons to get us from November 23 to January 8, which is 46 days. That's 1.55 gallons per day. According to wunderground.com there were 756 heating degree days between July 1 and November 23, and 2176 between July 1 and January 8, or 1420 heating degree days for our 71.3 gallons. That's 19.9 degree days per gallon. The average number of degree days from July 1 to March 31 is 4846, so we've got an expected 2670 left, which at this rate will take 134 more gallons until the cold weather is basically over. Yay!
(Supposedly there are 5630 degree days for the average year, which would come to 283 gallons for the entire year.)
